God is my Creator, my Redeemer, my Sustainer.
He knows all of my needs and tends to them with Love.
Nothing’s too big or too hard for Him to help with.
God wants what’s best for me.
My Lord always provides. (repeat)
My Lord will always provide.
About This Song
Some of you already know that I haven’t written many new songs during the ten years or so I’ve been writing Christian novels. Not that I haven’t had the time or the desire, but I can’t simply decide it’s time to write a new song. I have to wait (and pray) for God to plant an idea in my heart.
At this stage of my life, He apparently prefers the new novels, and that’s okay. He’s the One I most want to please with my creativity.
Recently I was practicing one of my older songs, “When I Am Scared”; even with changes I’d made to the lyrics, it still didn’t seem right. I modified the lyrics some more, but one thing became more and more evident. The song seemed to go on forever and ever.
Although I eliminated one of the four stanzas, I felt compelled to add a refrain–or at least a bridge–to add a little variety. I don’t know which I struggled with more, the words or the tune, but what you see above is what I ended up with.
Although it’s pretty long for a refrain, it makes a catchy little chorus when used by itself. I not only catch myself singing it in the shower, I rarely miss a day of not singing it with my guitar. Since I enjoy it and find it so encouraging, I hope other people will, too. Feel free to watch a video of me doing it HERE.
I pray that it will bless you, too.
Free lead sheets (lyrics, tune, and chords) are available for many of my songs. Click HERE for the lead sheet for this song. Videos for many of my songs, some recorded at home and some at our church’s nursing home ministry, can be accessed at my website, RogerBruner.com, under the Listen tab.
Look for me again next Wednesday. Better still, subscribe to receive these weekly posts by email.
Best regards,
Roger
